Fall colors seem to be at their optimum and the weather was in the 60s with clear blue sky. Sun helped to bring out the best of the colors - I've posted some pics. Went about 1/4 mile upstream & 3/4 mile downstream before deciding to try fly fishing in some of the pools. Caught several bushes and a few branches - all above the legal limit but we left them anyway. Road FR 81 & 81E are still well marked and good except the last two miles remain rough. Used 4WD through one deep mud puddle about 1/2 mile from TH. Someone who came in after we did, left their pickup just short of that mud puddle and walked the remainder of the road to the TH. This is one of the most serene and beautiful places to which we have hiked. Oops, forget I said that - everyone stay away, lest it get over-run like Fossil Creek.
