Well because of last minute plans, me and my girlfriend ditched town at 4 am wednesday morning and by 8 am we had our permit and were off to spend the night at the Grand Canyon. Quite an amazing experience seeing the Grand Canyon during the winter, I've only been down twice, both times in the dead of summer. The trail was icy and need instep crampons until around the 3 mile resthouse, which is about where the snowline was too. Only one other person was camping there with us, so we basically had the entire area to our selves. Went out to Plateau Point twice, once at sunset and once during the night to stargaze, but clouds moved in and kept us away from any good views. On our way out we started getting light flurries and by the 1.5 mile resthouse it was coming down full on, limiting views to about 20 feet in all directions. My guess would be nighttime temperatures at the Gardens went down to around the high 20s, my nunatak arc alpinist quilt and a fleece jacket did the job well.
