After reviewing wildflower status reports on HAZ and DesertUSA, I decided to make a trek to the much neglected Maricopa Mountain Wildernesses within the Sonoran Desert National Monument. After checking out a decent wildflower display in the South Maricopa Mountain Wilderness via the Shawmut Trainspotting Loop, Skippy and I headed towards the Brittlebush Trail Head to explore the North Maricopa Mountain Wilderness.

Action was less than what we saw in the southern wilderness...
