took the Maz Divide to bear spring and camped. first 4 miles of trail have been recently maintained (azta?) but the remaining section still in need of work. many washouts, bare slopes, and felled trees. fortunatley, n. mex. locust and gamble oak at a minimum. This was the best hike of this year, for many reasons. fantastic and lonely mountain range. pics attached.
