Desertroux came back to his home state for the weekend so we decided to look for a backpack up in some mountains so we could enjoy some cooler weather. It was still HOT. Started at the upper end of D.C. trail and hiked to the old homestead site at the bottom of the hill. Camped in our hammocks at a 4600' campspot that survived the Willow fire. I havent hiked in 43 days and my legs can feel the burn. Saw wildlife and sign of bear and cougar.

Maple Spring Dry
maple draw contained water in June 08- we had a good wet winter but this area is still holding water in the drainages and tributaries of deer creek- including maple spring.
