| | I started at the trailhead on CO 82. It is found about 15 miles west of the junction with US 24 and there is a big sign for it right on the side of the road. The trailhead is right at 10,000' and the summit of La Plata is 14,336'.
This hike went smoothly, though I started later than I wanted to. I was fine, but I did get wet coming down. The views from the top are pretty good. Parts of this trail are stairs, literally. Except for Mt Harvard, with this hike I have done 4 of the top 5 14ers in Colorado.
