went in from the top, found a campsite/shelter and hid from 3 hours of rain while I read 100 pages from a paperback. moved out of my rock crevice and camped on the level, sandy beach about 10' above the waterline(about the 7 mile mark). Lots of swimming, wading and wet feet crossings. I recall 3 deep swims, one of which was over 75' long - The upper end of the canyon is decidedly more difficult a passage and the scenery is less dramatic, more like WCC at the upper end compared to WF's low end. Still a nice area and I only saw 2 people (the adventurous Herschel and his lovely daughter who were out exploring) who were pro'lly wondering why I was tucked up under a rock in my bag with a book and some rum. (i have a feeling they didnt expect to see anyone up where I was : rambo : )
Looking back now, it wouldnt be wise or should I say safe to hike in here alone- way too many obstacles that are potentially health threatening. One slip on those rocks... :stretch:
