Spent the weekend at Vermillion Cliffs/North Rim area. Drove to Fire Point on the North Rim--the area where the bison were sighted a week ago. No bison, but lots of aspen in full color. Saturday morning went back to Navajo Bridge in hopes of seeing condors. Boy did I luck out. Watched #02 on the bridge girders, then it landed on the old bridge railing. Got some once in a lifetime shots with the 300 mm digital telephoto until the Perigrine Fund biologist arrived and hazed the bird away. Hiked on Saturday on the Vermillion Cliffs in an attempt to reach a petroglyph site. Made it to Rachel's Pools when my hiking companions were unable to continue safely. I went about 200 feet higher. I'll return sometime to try again.
