I had planned on hiking to Peter's Mesa. I had not planned on ice, snow and rushing torrents in Tortilla Creek. The ice & snow were melting so there was a lot of mud & slush.

I saw tracks that looked like a huge mulie, but they did not have the two points that I expected at the rear of the hoof and they kept following the trail. :-k I learned from some backpackers some Llamas had preceded me. That cleared up that mystery.

I got about 1/4 mile past the Tortilla TH to the first crossing. Two hikers were coming back from the next crossing and said it was even worse and they were turning back. :( The three backpackers pushed on. I turned back. If I had my G2 Hydrosocks and Keen water boots, I might have continued. : rambo : In my non-GoreTex Vasque boots, this was more than I needed.
