I wanted to hike the entirety of the Finger Rock trail to get on that section of trail after the takeoff to Pima Canyon and Mt. Kimball, to see what the eastern slopes of Kimball and that part of the Pusch Ridgeline would be like. My dad wanted to climb the Window for his birthday deathmarch. So we put the two together and went up Finger Rock to the Window then down Ventana for a 14+ mile, 5000 foot throwdown.
The seldom visited section of Finger Rock is otherwordly. The views east into Pusch Ridge and towards Mt. Lemmon are so ridiculous. Crossing over the head of Ventana Canyon is also cool.
This is a very tough alternative way to climb the Window, actually giving more total gain than coming up Esperero because of the drop down to the Ventana divide, before climbing 1200+ feet all the way back up to the Window.
