If you like mud, this is the trail for you! Right now most of the trail is really muddy from almost the bottom of the trail all the way to the top and the northern overlook. To make matters even worse, the winds this winter have knocked down dozens of snags on to the trail making for lots of climbing and walking around. The trail on top is particularly bad. Its flooded in many spots and at one point water from a silted up tank is flowing on to the trail and then uses the trail as a creek bottom until it flows out in a turn-out. Bring your waders to do this one. Still, I got some nice pictures, and Vaultee arch looked good in the late day sun.

I think Monsoon season will begin around June 20, plus or minus 5 days, not by the calendar according to the NWS, but when dew points rise dramatically, and it begins to rain over the Sacramento Mountains. It will start about 10 days later in Arizona.
