This hike starts with a fairly long drive. The dirt road is currently passable with a car (Mercury Sable)but there are ruts to avoid and a few rocks to clear in the last mile. There was no snow or ice on the trail but some water before making it to the Colorado. The skies were overcast in the morning which kept the temperature down. It warmed up a little in the afternoon but it was still pleasant. The trail is steep going down and there is some exposure but as long as you're not afraid on heights it shouldn't be a problem. There is a lot of boulder hoping so the hike may be tougher than others with the same elevation change and distance.
