We had intended to go to Tres Alamos Wilderness about 30 miles NW of Wickenburg - one of the few places where Joshua Trees and Saguaro Cacti can be photographed together - but we couldn't find the correct exit off of Hwy 93 in time. :( So as a backup we went to Hassayampa Preserve (we'd been there many times before) and moseyed around there for a few hours. Beautiful scenery as always. It's not really a "hike" (no more than Boyce-Thompson Arboretum is, say), but it's quite fun.

Warning: heat kills!
Avoid 8am to 5pm over 90 degrees. Prehydrate & stay hydrated.
Hikebot recommends using an umbrella to block the sun.
Avoid Heat Illness - do NOT hike when temps exceed 100 degrees, period.
