Arrived at the locked icehouse ccc rec site gate early and waited until 45 minutes after sunrise before parking below the rec site by the cattle guard and walked to the telephone trailhead. By then the hostess and her five dogs were out to unlock the gate. She said she may be leaving the area in a week or so and that the gate might stay locked all the time to help prevent vandalism. Hiked the telephone trail to the icehouse trail, then to Pinal peak. Meandered about the upper rec site area, then down the sixshooter trail back to the icehouse rec site and car for a total of 16.4 miles per GPS.
