What a great day. Three friends and I hiked the big loop at Chiricahua NM going counter clockwise. We did the Heart of Rocks in a clockwise fashion. Tracking with my gps I recorded 8.73 miles and we had bypassed the 1.0 mile r/t to Inspiration Point. I did lose satellite reception along the Sarah Deming Trail but I believe my track is fairly accurate.
The trails are well marked and easy to follow. In the areas with smooth rock surfaces there are painted brown footsteps to follow.
Its worth the drive and hike just to get to the "Heart of Rocks". We spent at least an hour doing this 1 mile loop. JUST SPECTACULAR
