Pretty area, with very sweet pools, but not much elevation gain. The five guys that decided to tackle Apache Maid at the beginning of the month made it sound like so much fun... I decided I wanted no part of hiking the whole thing! Just went to the top of the canyon- about 1/4 mile beyond the faded "trail is difficult to follow" sign, and caught a nice view of Sedona and the San Francisco Peaks. Plenty of a workout for me, and kudos to the brave souls who ventured beyond!
