Along with the GTNP hike to Lake Solitude, planning a day hike or backpack to this little jewel of an alpine lake at 9410' elevation in the shadow of The Tetons' Mount Woodring at 11,590 feet should be a must do. On your 6+ mile hike in, take-in the distant views behind you of Leigh Lake and huge Jackson Lake with numerous pic opportunities once past the initial forested trail area. Paintbrush Canyon derives its name from the abundant Indian Paintbrush along your route as well as numerous other varieties of mountain wildflowers that flourish along the scenic upper trail segments.
