Started out at the Groom Creek Loop trailhead off of the Senator Highway. Took south leg of the loop to junction with the Isabella Trail #377. Took #377 down to Walker Road in Potato Patch. Followed Walker Road past Hassayampa Lake to the Senator Highway, then along the Senator to Wiggler Road. Somehow made it up to the top of Mount Union from there. It was late so I came down back through the south part of Potato Patch again. Walked back to the trailhead along the Senator Highway.
I wasn't prepared to hike Mount Union properly because I decided at the last minute to do it while I was taking a break at the 307/377 junction. Lots and lots of cabins, but not many people except for a few hunters. I didn't notice much wildlife so maybe they were hunting signs? Lots of gunfire.
