Gathered some canyoneering friends for a "Daily Double" up on the Rim. This was the first canyon of the day, later going through Bear (Cassidy) Canyon. What a great day of canyoneering with friends. I am grateful! : )

Canyoneering is becoming much more popular and many canyons, such as these two, were never in a book or on a big site such as this one. In years past I have never seen another group in either of these canyons - today we heard or saw four different groups. I have also noticed a recent increase in canyoneering incidents/accidents and have heard some unbelievable storys from experienced canyoneerers who have recently come across ill-prepared "canyoneerers" who were an accident just waiting to happen. Enjoy the canyons and have fun, but I would caution you to get some proper training - please be safe - canyoneering is a lot more than just rappelling on a hike.

Havasu Canyon Trail - Sep 15 2014
I was watching the helicopter make multi-drops of people and supplies when, at one point, a stray horse wandered into the landing field (the gate was open). The guys unloading the supplies chased it around the field until it went back out the gate. Then as it was running up the main drag, another resident must have thought it got loose so he shooed it back into another open gate and back into the field. So now these guys are chasing it around the field again but this time they start pelting it with rocks. The horse was panicking and didn't know where to go. Rocks were being hurled at it from all directions. He ended up falling down after a really hard rock hit and it looked like he broke...
