I fought off the urge to do Humphrey and went into the Dry Lake Hills instead. I started out at the end of the pavement on the Elden Lookout Road and went west on the Rocky Ridge Trail to look for the social trail that runs up the west side of the hills. Hippie says this is the Lost Burrito. Despite having descended this trail a couple of time in the Spring of 2008, I never found it. I walked all the way to the Schultz Creek TH before I turned back. Having failed to find it a second time, I went up slope on the south face of the hills and topped out at a nice view spot just over 8400' before I made my way through the incredibly thick white fir and came down to the dry lake of the hills. I headed east, went past the tank and took the Brookbank to the Sunset, and then the Sunset to a mountain bike trail that runs down the canyon which separates the Hills from Elden. I then took the Lookout Road back to my car.

I think Monsoon season will begin around June 20, plus or minus 5 days, not by the calendar according to the NWS, but when dew points rise dramatically, and it begins to rain over the Sacramento Mountains. It will start about 10 days later in Arizona.
