My friend Austin just started hiking lately as a way to get exercise, and he's fallen in love with it. It's great for me because i've never had anyone to go with, and my parents get upset when I tell them I hike by myself. The only places he's hiked are in the Mcdowells, so i decided to show him a real hike, in some real mountains. We decided to go on the Upper Bridge section because i had never done the hike before (done the lower one). I was hoping for running water, but wasn't expecting it. I was actually pretty surprised by the amount of running water, which went on and off in places. It's definetely a tough hike with all the boulder hopping involved, and these boulders are HUGE. I had seen pictures of the fold on one of the canyon walls and made sure we got up to there. I'm taking a geology class next semester, and after seeing this, i'm actually excited about the class (even though it's still school). This was an awesome hike, and i plan on going back when there's more water.

Havasu Canyon Trail - Sep 15 2014

The guys unloading the supplies chased it around the field until it went back out the gate. Then as it was running up the main drag, another resident must have thought it got loose so he shooed it back into another open gate and back into the field. So now these guys are chasing it around the field again but this time they start pelting it with rocks. The horse was panicking and didn't know where to go. Rocks were being hurled at it from all directions. He ended up falling down after a really hard rock hit and it looked like he broke...
