Met up with my friend Rand and two HAZ'ers (Marlin and Pencak). We dropped off a shuttle vehicle at the Siphon Draw TH then headed over to the Hieroglyphics TH. We started our hike at 7:30am. Trail was well cairned past the petroglyphs and pools. There were a few moments where we lost the trail, but using preloaded GPS tracks were able to pick it up quickly. Worked our way up past the scree and reached the Ridgeline at 9:30am. After a short snack and photo break we continued north along the Ridgeline towards Flatiron. This trail is well worn and easy to follow. There are a few moments where we would have to search for a cairn to decide if we needed to go left or right around an obstacle, but with four sets of eyes on the watch, someone was always able to spot the next move within seconds. As we approached the saddle leading up to Flatiron, Chris (Marlin) and I were feeling a little extra adventurous and decided to poke around some hoodoos on our right. I'm glad we did. We climbed around, took some great pics and saw some unique formations. This little side trip added an extra mile to our trek but it was well worth it. We caught up with Larry (Pencak) and Rand who we found lounging comfortably on top of Flatiron. It was about 1:00pm and a cold wind started whipping across the Flatiron. This got us up and moving and we made our way down Siphon Draw and back to our shuttle at 3:30pm.

This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee.
