Re: Arizona wildlife sightings

I've been pretty fortunate to have encountered Gila Monsters in every month except for July and August, with April providing the most with almost a dozen sightings. Something a bit interesting (to me anyway), most sightings were late mornings from 10-ish to noon no matter what month the encounter to...

Re: Battle Axe Road to White Canyon

@GrangerGuy (Note to @SJFL as well) While the part of Battle Axe Road which you (GrangerGuy) hiked on the WEST side of Battle Axe Butte may look fine for a Subaru, the part of the road between the creek crossing (adjacent to the Artesian Well) on the EAST side of Battle Axe (where the G.E.T. USED t...

Re: Bell on a Bicycle

Remember bicyclist yield to hikers and horses. I'm all for everyone yielding to equestrians, but realistically as both a hiker and mountain biker, I've always found the other part troublesome. Example: If a biker is approaching a hiker from behind and the hiker does not yield, what is the biker sup...

We only got .41" last week, and that was only during the wee hours so I didn't get to enjoy any raindrops keep fallin' on my head.

I saw this story Op-Ed: Trump is making a last-minute push to turn a sacred Arizona oasis into a copper pit here on Yahoo News
The original story is here on the Los Angeles Times site (where I believe only subscribers can view it?)

@cw50must Just shows the wonders of social media... more like the irresponsible use of social media. And if the Instagram post by rossbernards isn't the absolute height of hypocrisy, I don't know what is. * taking a 6 hour drive to do what? do the same stupid thing as everyone else * cars parked ev...

Re: FR 172 & 172A to Rogers Trough TH

I posted a video of the drive up to Roger's Trough the day after Christmas 2017 and every once in awhile get comments on it. That said, this what I just received I received from a viewer who I have corresponded with in the past: "Just got back from there last night. (Sunday 11/23) The road condition...

I'll second that! Having practically a bald pate I always give it top priority, usually with a beanie, sometimes adding a warm cap on top of that.

Re: Reavis Ranch harvest?

@AugustWest What was the condition of Forest Road 172 when you were out there 6/20? I posted a YouTube video of the full drive up FR 172 back in 2017 and now I've got a guy coming from Texas in two weeks asking me whether a new Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4x4 will have any issues driving up there. If Je...

Re: Have you lost or almost lost your GPS?

I have also found HAZ Route Scout on Android to be more accurate than my modern GPS That has not been my experience... especially when I'm doing a lot of ups/downs/doubling-back within short distances. I suppose a relevant question would be... without comparing to a military-grade GPS, how do we re...

Re: Have you lost or almost lost your GPS?

I have found two GPS's that others lost (both in VERY dense vegetation) but I've never lost one. (that's only if running over one doesn't count) I never trusted the 'carabiner' on the Garmin 6x series so I always had it attached to the metal locking tab with a thin cord and carried it inside a case ...

Re: Garmin GPSMAP 64

When looking for a replacement after accidentally running over my 62ST back in July I was not too enthused with the price of any of the Garmin 6x series so I looked around for other options. Coincidentally my 5+ year old Galaxy S5 phone seemed to be slower with every update so I thought maybe instea...
