Re: Hiking vehicles

@outdoor_lover I just built a quick remove platform for Yertle. I can leave the main platform in place, but have to remove kid car seats and add a piece with 4 wing nuts to set up sleeping. Two exped megamats create the sleeping area and Make a queen size spot for my wife and I with 9+ r value. The...

Re: Hiking vehicles

@cactuscat @toddak I ran into similar issue with Ikamper when they were offering it for pre run special (still spendy at 2 grand). My rack could handle the weight but the distance between cross members at their widest was not enough. They also didn’t have anything that would accommodate the wide di...

Re: Hiking vehicles

@chumley
I put mine in the right place. :y: It’s older than FOTG and it is the opposite of fancy. :sl:... but the sticker looks best!
If FOTG takes his dogs and ride to the mountains in the winter he might not be able to find them.

Re: HAZ Window Decal: Whose looks best? (-:

@The_Eagle This probably should go to hiking vehicles, but I'm not Saavy enough to do that. I was excited to get my decal and apply it. Yes it is 6 wheel drive with hydraulic lockers of all axles and low and high at any speed. It is gas. The second generation which is just becoming available for im...

Re: HAZ Window Decal: Whose looks best? (-:

@joebartels
Thanks! I like the decal as well :D
@big_load
None, but it could carry about 3300lbs. :D
It also came with an embarrassing number of rifle holders, but it also has a gas fired aux. heater and black out curtains so we will be toasty sleeping in winter.

Re: Ideas needed for glamping trip

IMG_7357.JPG Freecampsites.net is a good place to look and we have been using it all summer to camp with the kids. This particular campsite is in Rabbit Ears Pass 20 minutes from Steamboat Springs. (20 minutes from a hot springs spa) Primitive, but in a grove of trees we actually found a clean pit ...

Re: Mindless weather chit chat

@chumley The feeder bands were already hitting when I flew home from Houston this AM. Just got all the platforms evacuated yesterday and relocated aircraft to Lafayette. Glad to be home. Weather was crap to fly in yesterday to get the last workers off the platforms. Tornado warnings in Galveston, T...

Re: Flash Flood Fatalities Near Payson

They monitor rainfall in Ute Pass through gauges,video, and and who knows what else. If it meets a certain criteria I believe .5" / Hour (it may have changed with all the flood mitigation over the last 3 Years) there are gates at the bottom of the pass and up by my house that come down blocking the ...

Re: Kendrick Peak lookout and helicopter pad

@The_Eagle fato would most likely not come into play here and there were probably no guidelines in place for building a helideck in 1979. Even in the Gulf there were no minimum helideck standards until 1994 or 1997 when they required the minimum size to be 24x24'. The older ones particularly in the...

Re: Backpacking Stoves.

@azbackpackr A wide diameter pot rather than a narrow tall jet boil shaped pot works much better with the cat tin design along with a wind screen. An offshore worker makes penny stoves out of the soda pop cans he drinks while watching tv. They are a little more time intensive, but I have to test th...

Re: Route Scout - Never Stops Issue

@joebartels
I just noticed the update I've been out of town. I now know how many miles it is to fly from Lafayette to the Springs. :) I'll check this weeks as I have a little leaf peeping to do.
