I seriously doubt the powers-that-be are going to reopen everything just yet. The forecast for the next week is sunny, ...

Re: summer water in southern az?

Sabino Tram is good for people who aren't able to walk far. But right now I don't know if any of the swimming holes (there are lots of them) would have water in them.

Re: Mount baldy loop camping spots and water sources

@DixieFlyer
Thing to do is keep calling the ranger district office to inquire when the trail crew will be clearing the trails. That serves to get the message out that the public is paying attention.

@hiking_arizona
Those trees died many years ago during a bark beetle infestation. I remember them being dead 19 years ago when I moved to the White Mountains. I guess it does take a long time for them to all fall down.

Re: 2018 Fire Restrictions

@chumley Yeah, okay. But the 2011 Wallow Fire ran 50 miles. On the other hand, a lot of that area which was burned in the Wallow Fire is very near to Alpine, Nutrioso, and Eagar, and may have a lot less fuel load now than it did then, creating a buffer zone. Not sure what has grown up since then in...

Re: 2018 Fire Restrictions

I just realized how little I care about this turn of events, with regards to my own recreation. There is plenty to do. Hiking in open areas, riding my bikes, paddling. It forces me to get a little bit creative.
