Re: AZT in a Day!

It's that time of year again. Here's what's open as of Friday: Participants Needed Right now, we have 92% of the trail covered with registrants. Well done! Will you help us fill the gaps? • Section 25: Gapgage Wash → Beehive Well • Section 32: Cochran Road → Telegraph Canyon Road (backcountry!) • Se...

Re: Foot gear survey - What are your favorite's?

I'm on the 5th or 6th pair of Lowa Trekkers. Some pairs have not lasted very well but they fit and that's the main criterion. If I treat them with nixwax religiously they last better.

@chumley
Well, there was that FS employee burning letters in a Colorado campground a few years ago. I wasn't there but I understand it was in a fire pit.

We were there a couple weeks ago. Its' fine to the artesian well, then gets gnarly in spots. 4Runner in low-low made it.

Re: 4WD Recommendations

The Arizona Trail Assoc Toyota 4Runner has 220k, with no maintenance issues other than wear items. It is a very comfortable vehicle that doubles as a rock crawler when needed. When I replace my F150 it will be with a 4Runner or Tundra. Toyota reliability is worth it for me. If I was starting over I'...

Re: List of AZT cache boxes

@toddak So far, so good. FS required we get the water tested every so often for a while and that has been done. I don't know how to check the water quantity, some rain would be nice soon. And FS 4 went through private land, besides being a real bear to navigate. The owner shut it off to pubic use a...

Update: the box at FR 4, not readily available with stock vehicles,
has been moved to just north of Picketpost TH, not visible from the road but I'm told it's there.
