Re: The Barracks

@louie
We did it in the fall, so the water had a summer of warming up. It was only chilly when you first stepped into it in the morning. I'm sure it's much colder now with all the snow/melt this winter.

May 15. PHX reached 100 for only the 2nd time this year. We might get past Memorial Day before it happens again.

I'm happy.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat

It’s May 12 and raining in many locations. I won’t complain. A few stations broke their all time rainfall records for the entire month of May with the single day of rain yesterday. Hopefully It will help keep fires at bay this spring/summer.

Re: The Barracks

I just wear meshy hiking shoes that dry out quickly once you get out of the water. Bring a dry pair of socks to put on once the shoes dry out a bit after leaving the water.

Re: The Barracks

Looking at the historical flow on the gauge page you linked to, the flow was between 48-52cfs when we were there in October 2017. The photos should help you make a judgement. It was hovering around 40cfs when volcanoclimber did it, and about 37cfs when bezzantine went through. I would think that up ...

Like most stories in modern media, there's probably a lot more to it than what is being reported (e.g., was there another contributing medical condition involved).

@elleryjk The rim is a great place to learn about getting lost. Every ridge has a road on it. Get to a ridge, hike south until you hit the rim. Flag down a car on 300. Learn and don’t repeat next time! :sweat:

Re: Mogollon Rim Ranger District - Road Conditions 2019

@bretinthewild If they’re opening 300 tomorrow that means it has dried out and been cleared of any deadfall. It should be fine to drive a sedan on as always though you can go faster with high clearance.
