Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@big_load I’ve read no official statement. However there has not been any lightning in the area in recent days.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

I have yet to see an official incident website, but reports are that the fire has now reached 1000 acres. The infrared imagery shows that it has moved up to Rogers Trough TH. If you trace a line around all the hot spots on this map, the acreage is over 2000 acres, and photos from last night showed t...

Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

Burning near Woodbury Trailhead. It has grown to 500 acres. I'll post official links as soon as they're up.

The smoke plume does not look good.

Smoke will also settle overnight south of the Mogollon Rim in areas such as Strawberry, Pine, Payson, and the Verde Valley

Re: Squaw Peak Spinster

If I had a medical emergency that required a quick trip to the hospital, I would definitely prefer a luxury ride. But if I my timely arrival at the hospital gave me the care I needed (possibly saving my life?), I think I would overlook some discomfort I might have been subjected to along the way. If...

Put down the bong! Posting ridiculous fantasies in a forum for some poor guy who just wants a little advice!

It’s desert rocky terrain. Yuck.

Searching is easy. The hardest part is knowing what terms to search. But you already had "rally" which I would have never ever considered. But apparently that's what Rob called it!

Re: Fossil Creek - Comprehensive River Management Plan

It's funny because it's Payson-Pine-Strawberry that has been pushing so hard to have some access from the top in the management plan. The closure of 708 was a big deal to them when implemented. And yet, those tiny towns don't have the resources to handle the crowds that they want to come there and s...

Nah. I would be way less subtle, and absolutely not embarrassed enough to admit I did it on purpose.

Mormon Lake, also near Flagstaff. That lake dries up from time to time.

I think they meant to say it actually has some water in it from time to time.

Re: Parking North End of Passage 34

The actual end of the segment is technically on private ranch property, but I think that there is still unrestricted access. If you want, you can park 300 yards north on segment 35 (Forest Road 9008A). That's just Coconino National Forest land and you are permitted to park your vehicle up to 30 feet...
