High winds and a front moving through. Pine Trailhead and head South along the Arizona Trail to the Oak Springs area.

Lot of backpackers coming through Payson this past week heading Northbound. It appears most are exiting at Doll Baby and restart at the Pine Trail head. Tonto National Forest has issued a camping closure for the area that Horton Springs is located and this area is apx. one square mile. The title of the closure states camping closure but the closure notice itself appears to be a full closure.

Article in the Payson Roundup on 1/8 states the remains have been identified as Daniel M. Andrews of the valley according to Sgt. Paul Hornung of the Gila County Sheriff's Office.

Later in the day I visited See Canyon after a hail storm and heavy rainfall. I just went to the first crossing and did not go further due to potential of flash flooding

1.27 inch of rain at home yesterday while I was visiting Tonto, Horton and See Canyon. While visiting Tonto and Horton I could here thunder and flashes of lightning so I decided to postpone Horton Creek. Stopped by Christopher Creek Campground and the ford was closed due to flooding [attachment=0]DS...

The Payson basin drains into the East Verde and or Verde.

Roughly five inches for the month and twenty five inches for the year. Whatever the outdoor excursions take me the next couple of days looks like more rain and possible snow.

I have a friend who bicycle tours that uses a Delrin one piece rod for his Eureka Solitaire tent. When riding he attaches the rod to his rear rack and attaches a bright orange flag to it.
