@Jim_H

I was anticipating using Crosscut th so we don't have to fork out money to park. I guess we could use Lost Dutchman if someone has a State Parks pass.

Re: Superstition Ridgeline week of 1/21

Shall we say Tuesday then? I've only done from Carney to Flatiron, other direction might be my preference. Meet at Carney Springs at 8 to set up shuttle? I will have a compact car aka up to four ppl if I'm driving.

Hi HAZ Fam,

I will be in town next week and am interested in doing the Superstition Ridgeline on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Semi-late start time (8-9 AM). I will have a car so will need one more to set up a shuttle. Let me know if you are available and interested!!

Re: Hermit-Boucher Loop in October

Hey all, It doesn't look like this is gonna end up working for me. Have been waiting for a date that the moving company is going to deliver our stuff and it ended up the weekend of the 12th. I'll be back soon. Maybe we can get in something in the Supes when it cools off. Sorry for being a flake on t...

Re: Hermit-Boucher Loop in October

So between the time that I posted this event and today my wife and I took new jobs and are in the middle of a move to the Central Valley. I haven't applied for permits for this hike. I'm trying to see how I could make this work. Do you guys think a day-hike would be feasible? I could fly into PHX th...

I've done that. Looking for new territory. Also thinking about North Bass and then up Shinumo Creek, do some fishing.

Hermit-Boucher Loop in October

Hi folks, Any interest in a Hermit-Boucher loop in the Grand Canyon at some point in October? I'd love to see old hiking buddies again, it's been too long! Some of my favorite (and least favorite) hiking memories were with you guys! I'm looking at two nights in the Canyon, one in the Boucher Creek a...

Re: Deer Creek/Thunder River loop

@hikeaz
Would you say the hike from Upper Tapeats to Stone Creek and back is a good day hike option? Have two nights at Tapeats so won't be able to spend a whole day at Stone.

@hikeaz
Does the route to Stone Creek start at the Tapeats/C.R. junction? That one wasn't on my radar but looks nice.

Re: Deer Creek/Thunder River loop

Thanks for the response. The linked route is helpful, as I simply assumed the route followed the River the entire way from Tapeats to Deer Creek without bypassing the narrows and falls. I have permits for May. Looking forward to this one, have been to Deer Creek but never explored Tapeats/Thunder Ri...

Deer Creek/Thunder River loop

Hi all,

Seems a fair amount of you have done the loop portion of the hike. How is the route along the River from Thunder River to Deer Creek? Is the route easy to find? Is there a lot of exposure in these three miles?
Thanks

@arizona_water
Thank you! I appreciate this!

Anyone who has insight into the situation at Cremation Creek would be appreciated. I can carry half my weight in water, but don't want to if there is not a need!

Water situation: Tonto from Grandview to South Kaibab

Hi all, Will be taking this route later this month, which seems to be a difficult section of the Tonto when it comes to water. A bit nervous given how dry this winter has been. Has anyone been in this section of the Tonto recently or have any information about the water situation I sure would apprec...

Re: Ticks in Arizona

One thing I've always wondered about our system's response to ticks is whether their is some sort of acquired resistance or repellent bodies can produce to repel ticks. The reason I started to wonder about this is this little anecdote. When I was in Central America doing field work, the first few we...

Re: Havasu 2018

Makes the $10 + $8 per person per night for NP backpacking permits seem very reasonable in comparison. Plus a better chance for solitude, and if you are flexible with your itinerary you can pretty much always get a permit for SOMEWHERE. Oh and you can cancel and get at least part of your money back ...
