Re: Mindless chit chat

Lost a tree, a bunch of limbs, cactus and shrubs in Scottsdale Thursday night. Also sections of fence and our 4 year old roof leaked into the living room. If this hadn't been Arizona, I would have thought Tornado for 45 minutes. Have never seen that severe of a wind ever in AZ. And I've been through...

Re: Bears In The News

A lot of coverage from various sources on this attack. Sounds like initially people were keeping food in their tents in one of the most densely populated grizzly bear areas in the state. https://www.kpax.com/news/western-monta ... ear-attack

Re: Foot gear survey - What are your favorite's?

La Sportiva Bushidos for Trails, La Sportiva Guide TX for non-trail or gnarly trails. The Guides have almost too sticky a rubber, probably because they're an approach shoe. A low Scarpa for backpacking.

Re: Help me explore the Pinalenos!

Most of the Trails that you would actually backpack have been obliterated. I haven't been back there since the fire just because it's so bad up there. There are still some nice areas on the front of the mountain and near Riggs Lake, but those are all day hikes. I would suggest getting a hold of @Sky...

I do, since I only live 10 minutes away and am sick of watering. We've had JUST measurable rain twice in 6 months. The yard needs some nitrogen.

@Oregon_Hiker
I think Angela's thinking that too. Just an Out and Back to the Horns. If I'm up to it, I'll go with as well.

Re: 10th Annual New Year's Day Peak Bag

Start Time will be 9:30 A.M. I'll let you all sleep an extra 30 minutes this year due to location and distance of Hike. Start will be at the Location of the Official Route. The Junction of Apache Trail and the turnoff for the SRP Dam Housing. Roughly 1/4 mile down the hill from the Canyon Lake Overl...

10th Annual New Year's Day Peak Bag

It's almost time to ring in a New Year! I don't know about you guys, but I'm seriously ready for this one to be over. The Hike this time around is going to be pretty easy, but there will be lots of room up top for a party, and you can't beat the views of Canyon Lake! There is a social trail on this ...

@azbackpackr
A lot of Canyoneers I know, use the Mini. Their most common comment was that Garmin doesn't care as much about Quality as DeLorme did.

Re: Hike Events in Strange Times

@tibber I generally like to try to find a Peak, and I'm looking further out. Goldfields will have a ton of people in them on New Year's. But we'll see what the consensus is to even have one this time around. If the weather is bad, I'll have a fall back peak, but I'm trying to find something SE this...
