Re: Water filters/purifiers

UV Purifier. Doesn't kill the suckers just sterilizes them so they can't reproduce. This gives my immune system something to do so that when they come into contact with these critters in the future it doesn't run in fear and hide in a corner. Most of the time if the water is not sitting I don't use ...

Re: Coconino Rim - AZT #36, AZ

@Jim_H I would start at Grandview lookout, on the north end of AZT 16. The north 9.5 miles is all trail and has some good views over the Coconino rim and occasional views of the Grand Canyon. This would end on the Coconino Rim Road. The southern half is less scenic and at the time I did the hike wa...

@chumley
Black objects absorb all wavelengths in the visible spectrum and reflect none. therefore they appear black. They may reflect in the IR or ultra violet spectrum though. It's a good thing we don't see in those spectrum or this thread would get really complicated.

Re: Need a ride

@azlaurie
I completed the Arizona Trail on single day hikes and since I was solo, to avoid the car problem I had to do the 8 to 10 miles in and then return. Walking a trail in the reverse direction really is different.

Re: What kind of mileage are you getting

I get about 1000 to 1500 miles on my Scarpa Boots and am on my 3rd resole. I like the heavier boot for the support but they can be a bit warm. I'm cheap so at 250.00 for the original pair back in 2013 and 100.00 a resole, I'm a happy hiker.

Re: Fremont Saddle and Doyle Saddle location incorrect

I heard that Doyle and Fremont Saddles were incorrect a few years back and the location of each would support that. Who would of thunk the peaks were incorrect. Whats easier to move a Peak or a Saddle?

Got a good rain east of Tucson Monday evening. I'm going to try my luck in the Chiricahuas Thursday and Friday. Suppose to be a couple of down days before next week but we all know how they are at predicting this stuff.

Re: Doll Baby TH to LF Ranch, River Route

The hard part is the climb up the hill and the shortcut doesn't eliminate that. The road is fairly easy walking and not much further than the shortcut but it is a road, I guess I would be interested in how easy is the short cut? Does it involve a lot of brush?

Re: Doll Baby TH to LF Ranch, River Route

Do a search on AZT 25. select the description for Whiterock Mesa -AZT 25. On the description page I have a hike listed as Doll Baby Ranch White Rock Mesa if you select that my trip log has the route. You can download that. I assume you are looking for the route between the Doll Baby road where it is...

Maybe it should Be Labeled "Dacite cliffs west of the Peralta Trail Head and southeast east of Superstition Peak Super Loop". Not sure what the limit Joe has on letters for a description title.

I agree, droughts are usually a longer term cycle but they can have spurts of wet weather, only time will tell.
