Geez... your asking alot here. Give up favorite backpacking AND fishing areas?!?!?! Because I am such a kind soul I will name one of my best places. East Clear Creek. Huge trout! Either fly fish or lures. Forget the power bait and such. That's all you'll get out of me!

Myself - I'll pay the fees because I have to, and I'll also pick up the odd piece of trash I find just to do my part. Not much - but there it is. You're right...it's not much...but...we all make the world the way it is...if everybody did a little, not much, just a little...the trash issue would no ...

I quit whining and bought a yearly Red Rock Pass. I agree with Joe. Of course I hate fees but what is the solution :?: If you enter West Fork by the Call of the Canyon the Red Rock Pass is not needed but there is a daily usage fee.

Hellsgate via Young. Aprox 8 miles round trip, there's water and depending on what kind of 4x you have you'll be glad you have one. But isn't that the weekend of the BBQ?

Aaron, Where did you find the Five Ten's? I have had Five Ten climbing shoes and have been happy with them. Even though I am pretty dedicated to my Teva's I'd like to take a look a these.

There are places but I have found them few and far between. If you climb up a bit away from the water, you will have a bigger selection. Right past 6 miles there is a nice little 'beach' area. There is (or at least was the last time I camped there) a nice swimming hole right in front of it. It's bea...

I remember there was a topic here last year on this. It was about littering in general. I believe it led into many other things such as how we are raising our children. I believe that is the jest of it here. People, society have gotten lazy when it comes to teaching our children values, responsibilt...

For me the perfect hike is with a partner I can be 'just me' with. No matter where I go, when I get out I want to be able to leave everything behind. It takes someone with great patience to put up with that side of me  It would also include rain. There is something very liberating about the ra...

That must be it. She said it was right by Indian Gardens. She said some of the area they went through belonged to their family and others but I was hoping there was a public access to this creek. Maybe I can use my 'one day we'll all be family' bit and they'll allow me to use it?!

Munds Creek

My daughter's boyfriend's great, great grandparents are the Thompson family. One of the original settlers in Oak Creek (what a nice legacy). They were up there this weekend for a family reunion and she said they explored around Munds Creek. She said the water was colder than Oak Creek and that there...

In response to Kenny's reply: I'm not quite sure what the 'nasty's' are but I do use the Emer' gen C. I find it leaves a slight 'tinny' taste in my mouth, somewhat like iron. Does this have any of that?

I spend most of my time with my children and not enough time with my grandson. Besides shuttling the kids around to work, school, golf, baseball, volleyball, swim, and the mall, I run 6 days a week, I workout 5 days a week, I try to fish at least twice a month. Camp, hike, swim, ride my bike. 4 whee...

Gotta agree with Joe. I am mostly in the canyons and I always wear my Teva's. I find that unless the weather is too cold or the terrain too rocky, they are the best all purpose shoe. I used to lead 'corporate challenges'. Those weekends that big companies put on for their employees to do something d...

My son went to East Clear Creek Memorial day weekend and in 3 days he saw one other person. I was there about 3 weeks ago for the day and saw maybe a handful of people. I didn't notice any trash at all. Actually I came out empty handed. The road is easy, maybe 5-7 miles off 87. Maybe the last half m...

Kinder Crossing would be a good place to do as you suggest. There are places to camp near the trailhead and it only takes about 20 mins to get down to the bottom. Very easy. There is lots of water, great fishing and plenty of swimming holes and not usually very crowded. Blue Ridge will probably be v...
