ndns

Don't wanna call them Indians..you want to say Ind'ns. and then end every sentence with "enit". As in:

"So..what the hellya doin' climbin' on our mountain. It's Ind'n land, enit!

No self-respecting Indian would ever call themselves Native American.

Most people are not born hikers. Hiking is something that must be learned- you learn how to navigate terrain, you learn how to read the weather, you learn when to go and when not to go. It's all about preparation. and you CANNOT be prepared for WHATEVER nature might bring. There is nothing wrong wit...

pre-hike hikes

Hi Carla, Someone else can answer your timeline question about Havasu, as I haven't been in the GC at all, so... BUT, has far as pre-hikes go- sounds like if you are heading to Havasu in the early fall (October) that means summer hiking for you. Stay out of the Superstitions, unless you go REALLY ea...

Re: Fishing

In response to big_load's reply: "If you don't have to drill a hole in the water, it's not cold" LOL Big load!! I remember those freezin' mornings back in IL when my grandpa would whisk me out of bed at 4 am, grab his winter rig and out onto the ice we would go. After a few hours we would pack it u...

Fishing

Chevelon Canyon up on the Rim, although not sure about this time of year. Be pretty cold up there.

I've seen folks haul out some pretty good size trout from the Lake and from the creek itself.

Looks like Brittany was just there this weekend coming in from GV. Might check her triplog under Garden Valley.

Browns

There's a very rough and rocky section of road right around Mud Springs, if I recall. I am a probably an overly cautious driver, even in my Jeep, but watch out for that section!

Hey Matt- good to see you back!

Superstition Ridgeline Hike

I'm really wanting to hike the ridgeline, but would definately like some company. Anyone out there from HAZ have a notion to hike it next month? I could go any weekend in February.

Lemme know!

Quads..arggghhh

In response to Sredfield's reply: Hey Shawn- I assume you were approaching Reavis from the south at Rogers, right? Or were the quads overrunning the north road in from 88? Man I hope not. I have an intense dislike for those blasted things, but as long as they are on the FS roads thats a lot better ...

Re: First Backpack in the Sups - need water advice!

In response to hikeaz's reply:

"If you head to Reavis, take your woolies, as it's about 5000'... might be a THREE dog night."

LOL!! Cuz..one doesn't have to be the loneliest number!!

Reavis

Reavis is an excellent choice for an overnight backpack. There should be water, and the route from either the south or the north have great views. The north views are better, in my opinion, but the trail in is a bit longer. And, there is always side trips, like Circlestone, that you could do from Re...

It's amazing the number of people they pull off the Flatiron.

Okay, maybe its not so amazing...I should rephrase

Its amazing how many people head up there unprepared, wearing tennis shoes and carrying one 500ml bottle of water and a cliff bar. And then have to be pulled off.

Punching out the buttons

In response to joe bartels' reply: Yep, I generally don't shy away from controversy (as anyone who followed the Cannabis Hemp Thread knows), however- I'll leave the Childs Power Plant issue alone. For now. At least until I can find out more about it and at least be able to pretend I know what I am ...

Matt- No need for apologies- I always value your opinions and appreciate any responses. Digis

I am a digi fan too- mostly because as a novice my credo is to shoot shoot shoot- and thats how I learn. It can get pretty expensive developing all that film in this learning stage. My dad has very expensive Canon SLR with 10 different lenses and all the attachable gadgets, but I don't see myself ca...

Digi Photography Workshops

Hey folks, I was wondering if anyone has any information about any beginner to intermediate digital photo workshops that may be coming up in the Valley, or any information on where I can look. I've tried the internet, however, we all know how vast and outdated it can be. I'm mainly looking for works...
