449A to Upper Horrel biggest concern lately is the sand. Which never really gave me any problems. I've been there three times and have found it more fun then problematic. However... it is out in the middle of nowhere so go prepared. Once the creek was running pretty swift and I swore we wouldn't mak...

Yep, if you head to Sedona in search of bagging a peak you've missed the whole point. That'd be like going to Disneyland just to see the ocean!...lol Though I think Branch was just asking out of curioustiy. Since he's already completed Wilson Mtn. It's pretty hard to claim the high point on second t...

PS--Is this topic the current 'record holder' in terms of numbers of posts?[/quote]

I believe so for the new forum. The all time record holder was Fritzski's 'Question about packing... Iron that is'

Now back to Nighthikers 'SNAKE GAITERS!'

Personally I haven't noticed that many huge changes in pressure in Arizona. I have the ninety dollar sun alt. Usually set it as I'm passing by those 4000 elevation markers on the highway on route to the hike. Or just set it at a know elevation mark of a saddle on a topo. I would NEVER count on GPS f...

Readers only need apply

http://ucsu.colorado.edu/~damronb/bad.htm Here's a link a college guy sent me to his AZ adventure I 'think' I recommended James Canyon. Which is a hearty tributary to Pumphouse Wash which then inturn goes down to the head of Oak Creek above Sedona for reference. Anyhow I thought I'd let you die hard...

Cakewalk's Place

Okay - Maybe I've been hiding under a rock or something but Cakewalk, our Calkwalk!, has a great little spot on the net! Check it out... http://www.users.qwest.net/~cakewalk1/cakewalk/ My buddy and I did a delivery in Gainy Ranch a couple years ago. It turned out to be one of the band members from D...

You do need a guide. I'm not up on the current status exactly who/where and such. (White House Trail is open to the public) I agree the guide thingy is less than desirable. On the other hand you gotta respect the reservations for keeping areas such as Keet Seel, Canyon de Chelly and upper Cibecue fr...

I nugged this bad boy on Whiskey Springs Trail http://www.hikearizona.com/trails/phoenix/superstitions/whiskey/westredloop/wr12.jpg & actually stepped on this ol' boy on the Dutchman Trail http://www.hikearizona.com/trails/dated/081...

Welp, when you think of Payson. The first thing that comes to mind is probably the rim stretching out over to Forest Lakes. As this isn't in a Wilderness you're right it isn't covered very well for hiking. The Mazatzal Wilderness is really the closest Wilderness even though it may not seem like it. ...

Windows 98 advertised the extended ability to fully support 'Plug n Play' What they didn't anticipate were 'Plug n Play' disc drives. This is the category a digital camera falls under. Your reading the memory card in the same mannor as a disc drive. The problems began to surface when you had a direc...

I don't believe you caught the better part of the basin. It's a bit further but the Salome Wilderess and further has some great areas. There's countless oportunities along Cherry Creek too but that's getting way past Roosevelt Lake. And hey you did catch one of the best rides home!

Sorry CW I don't have any great solutions for you good buddy. **The only other advice I have I really DON'T recommend. That's to disconnect any and all addon cards. Basically your left with just the motherboard, harddrive, and video card. Then see if the camera is detected by photosuite. Then add in...
