Re: Any interest?

Another option I just thought of tonight, do some research and put together clues, and take 3-4 days and try to locate the little known and seldom seen "Carey's Castle" which was home to a reclusive miner, in the end Im sure the "castle" is cool, but the search will be the best part, I might start ...

Re: yellowstone 10-11 /10-18

Back country permits are very easy to obtain in yellowstone, and typically no reservation is required, just get there early! A couple great backpack trips are the hellroaring (although it will take you out of the park), Shoshone Lake, and bechler river Shosone lake is an amazing place, animal sighti...

Re: Babe Haught to Knoll Lake

I was just back there about a week ago, the back section is very shallow and the fishing there was horrible, you had to hike towards the main section of the lake to catch anything, but it was very picturesque back there

Re: labor day plans (backpacking)

You might convince me depending on your route, I love the whites but Dunno how you could pull together a 40+mile loop in the area, and stay above 7000 for the length of the trip: maybe drop down to Hannah Hotsprings via Rose Peak to Fritz ranch, do a bit of cross country and come back up the blue dr...

Re: steeple creek trail in apache

Id have to say that there probably hasnt been a 'trail' in upper grant creek for quite awhile though, I hiked it each of the last 3years and on the upper sections there was only a very very faint trail, overgrown and covered by deadfall, not something I would expect a lot of scout troops to notice (...

Re: steeple creek trail in apache

The trail was pretty beat up when I hiked it last, but I know for a fact that the last time I was in the area, the Blue Crew was cutting new trail along the length of the trail, so while I have not personally hiked it since it has been worked on I would probably guess that its in decent condition, f...

Re: Car assessable THs for Cabin Loop

I was up there this weekend, roads are good, even with the snow

I was wondering around exploring off trail after we set up camp, and came across some tracks in the snow, that were way too big to be a coyote, and too far away from a trail to be a dog, hopefully its your buddy Te-wa,

Hart Prairie

So, from the hike description I cant really tell if this is an old road that is good for mountain biking, or if its more of a trail, the description talks about multiple trail heads but shows cars on the 'trail' in some pictures

So.......... can anybody clear this up for me

Re: Car assessable THs for Cabin Loop

Yah its pretty easy to get off track with all the road crossings, Ive been on those trails quite a few times and still miss the trail quite a bit when crossing the road

Id upload my GPS data for the loop but it looks like something from an etch a sketch
