Re: Best Active Valley Meetups for Singles

Phoenix Rock Gym. Climb a couple days week to stay in shape. Bingo. That's how I met someone who puts up with me. She even likes to hike. Devils' Chasm isn't a good first hike or second hike.

Re: What's the best way to catch a Mountain Goat?

@chumley
They probably are unhabituated to humans from the event, and I could see how darting them could be a problem on that type of terrain.

What's the best way to catch a Mountain Goat?

Re: 7/6 Pikes Peak Pumpkin Loop

Might change this to Tuesday 7/12. May meet up with Hazers in the area to hit another Peak or two 7/6. Will change date after confirmation. Gives anyone another week to think about what a good time will be had. Probably will give me another week to stretch out my altitude lungs after two weeks in se...

I'm speaking of this variety. Look almost like the crappy ones that come with the sawyer filter only they last more than one use.

Re: Favorite Water Treatment?

@Trew Sawyer filters fit on platypus collapsible waterbottles which are more durable and have a lifetime warranty as well as pop bottles up to the two liter size.

Re: Kahtoola Microspikes v Hillsound Trail Crampons

@chumley
Good luck finding any. It hit 95 this weekend at our house at 7600' and 90 in Woodland Park at 9000'. BTW Use the Kahtoolas all the time no experience with the other brand.

@friendofThundergod
You may not need them after this week. :)

Re: Mindless weather chit chat

Endless Winter is where it's at. I loved that I could ride on Mt Hood 51 weeks out of the year and I'm hopefully going to get at least 7 months this year. I could do w/out working in 90 degree 90% humidity of Galveston in a POLY COTTON uniform. You can only take so many layers off, but you can alway...

Just shoveled 12" off the deck with no let up and the driveway already has several inches on it after clearing it a couple hours ago. I'm pretty sure Chumley is on his way up because he says he likes to shovel snow so much! Ha!

Re: Emergency Transmitters / Locators - 2015

El Paso County Search and Rescue used an interesting way of locating a lost hiker. They had the person open the location services on their iPhone compass app which then provides gps coordinates. Article is on their Facebook page linked off their website. Never thought about it and don't think I've e...
