Re: Forest Roads 552 and 418 - Lockett Meadow

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., Sep. 30, 2015 — ... maximum capacity of approximately 50 vehicles has been reached in Lockett Meadow
Sept. 30, 2019 — ... maximum capacity of approximately 100 vehicles
I didn't realize they had doubled the parking capacity in the last 4 years!

Re: Ikes

Side note: the NPS has not instituted a closure area such as the FS has. NPS has closed only roads and trails within the fire management boundaries. It's almost as if they don't realize that people hike off-trail.

Re: Ikes

It's funny that they somehow continue to claim this is lightning caused. When I was there a month ago , the closure area was much smaller, but firefighters were actively igniting along all the roads within the management area at that time. Now they've expanded the management area and are sure to be ...

All three gates were unlocked, open, and plenty of recreational traffic in the creek this afternoon.

Re: State Route 88 - Apache Trail closed

ADOT posted a drone video on their socials. I’m having a tough time imagining a way that Fish Creek Hill will open anytime soon.

Sorry, couldn’t find a non-fb source for this one yet.

It’s taken at the Desert View Tower. I didn’t post this one to HAZ, but I took it this April.

Re: South Rim Photo Location Help

At first glance, it looks like you’re a whole lot closer to the river than a south rim viewpoint. I’d have to look at it more closely though. Sometimes those old photos can play tricks. There was a similar post here a while back where the photo was scanned from a slide or negative upside down so the...

Re: FR 403 - Sycamore Creek closed

@CannondaleKid I don’t know my road numbers out there but FS was locking gates at Mesquite and Sugarloaf on Monday when I was out there. The LEO told me it was due to anticipated rainfall and flooding to come.

Hydration - Water isn't the best

Ok, so this comes from @fakenewsCNN so obviously take it with a grain of salt. Speaking of salt ... interesting article here on a study from St. Andrews University. Drink milk. Also, a good beer is almost as good as water! Most Hydrating Drinks 1. Skim milk 2. Oral rehydration solutions (like Pedial...

4.21" at the North Reavis TH
3.39" at Tortilla TH

Fish Creek -- otherwise untouched by fire -- might be destroyed by runoff from that kind of rainfall.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@friendofThundergod Yes. A lot.

How the area recovers... if it starts to come back in a few years... rather than a few decades... will depend on what happens to the soil/ash.
