@Pivo Should be a new farmers commercial: We've seen almost everything, so we know how to cover almost anything. Even butt-shifting bears.

You'll have to excuse him. He's a little salty from watching the lionesses crumble after watching Alex Morgan mimic sipping tea.

Because it's possible for a day to have a temperature that is at or below normal, and subsequently ALSO be no more than 5 degrees above normal.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat

More than half the days in June were at or below normal, and 27 out of 30 were no more than 5 degrees above normal. That's a pleasant June in my book.

This data is from the official Phoenix weather station. YMMV at other locations in the state, but I believe many of them were similarly pleasant.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat

Monsoonal moisture continues to gradually increase across southeast Arizona. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will continue into the early evening across the region with the main concern being gusty winds, frequent lightning and brief heavy downpours from Tucson eastward. Modest moisture will be...

@arizona_water So what you’re saying is if the fire destroyed the Pinto mine, then then the springs would be better than ever!? :stp:

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

I can't think of one wildfire in central Arizona in the past 25 years that has been beneficial to the pine forests As nonot stated above, you can't think of them because the beneficial ones don't make the news. Only the destructive ones do. Here are some photos of the Tucker Fire that he referred t...

Nah. I prefer Mongolian myself, but I'm generally a fan of renaming and mispronuncicating things when done intentionally.

Maybe @arizona_water is still lurking? I think he might be able to provide educated, factual data specific to Arizona.

(I can't add anything of substance but the replies above seem logical to me).

Re: Closure Area Near Mt. Elden

My understanding is that right now it looks pretty ugly. Some of the 4FRI thinning operations I've been through have left a forest of dirt, stumps, and sticks. It takes a year for the grasses to grow, and it looks pretty nice again. Right now I think it'll be gross.

@Sredfield
Grass will be key ... and fast. I am so much more concerned with the lasting effects of flooding and erosion from storms this summer than the burn itself. Where a flood washes away the soil, regrowth will be delayed by decades.
