Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@Sredfield I have not seen or read anything in any of the reports that mention Tony's Cabin. But it seems the plan has been to let it burn within the perimeter of the 88/188 corridors while protecting specific assets. I would expect that Tony's is one of the protection assets. I did see a briefing ...

@big_load That’s one thing that will be better after the fire! Open views and more runoff after every rain!

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

@hondah35 I am copying the text of a post on a facebook page from a man named Cliff Pearlberg. I don't know him personally, though I've messaged with him a few times. He is a retired wildland firefighter here in Arizona who has worked many such fires, so the information he posted seems to come from...

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

The progression map showing yesterday's growth was published an hour ago and shows that the fire burned the top of Malapais Mountain yesterday and entered the Reavis Valley, burning Mound Mountain and across the fireline trail. It would be nice if they are able to keep it from dropping down into Cam...

I’m curious as to which native Sonoran desert plants need fire for seeds to germinate. Or did this discussion suddenly turn to a totally different type of ecosystem?

CBS 4's Ken Molestina is "covering Colorado first" but apparently thinks the place is called "leed-ville" 🤦‍♂️

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

The official progression map was just posted on inciweb. Though occasionally interesting, I personally find the infrared maps to be wildly inaccurate and misleading.

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

The 2 people who started that fire each received 48 hours of jail time and 5 years of probation -- that was the extent of the penalty Not that it really matters, but they were also slapped with $3.7 million in restitution, of which they are each paying $500/month (for life, because it would take ov...

Re: Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

I have yet to see an official incident website, but reports are that the fire has now reached 1000 acres. The infrared imagery shows that it has moved up to Rogers Trough TH. If you trace a line around all the hot spots on this map, the acreage is over 2000 acres, and photos from last night showed t...

Woodbury Fire - Superstition Wilderness

Burning near Woodbury Trailhead. It has grown to 500 acres. I'll post official links as soon as they're up.

The smoke plume does not look good.
