Re: New Prove-You're-A-Citizen law

@chumley

So now NPR is the devil?

Comeon though, NPR is the most non-offensive, non-partisan, non-exciting forms of media I've ever heard. They specifically hire people who cannot physically become excited or enthusiastic about anything.

Re: Four Peaks Mother Lode (10/24)

You may be in for a rude awakening if you think this is a "hike". I really have to agree with Tough Boots on this one, do Browns Peak first before even considering the Mother Lode. Once you start you are pretty much committed to a very long day with very few escape opportunities. Great advice. I am...

Re: Four Peaks Mother Lode (10/24)

Is there a better date that works for you guys? This is just a generic date, if needs be we can push it back to November or up a week or two. Keep in mind this was going to be in the supes, so thats why I put a late october date, we will now be up at 7000 feet for a good portion of the hike. Althoug...

Read the description and triplogs for the lode... this hike definitely isn't for everyone.

Should we post a separate backpackers trip following the same route? Truthfully that is what I'd be most likely to sign up for.

Re: Tule to Peralta

Since this is thanksgiving weekend most should have Friday off. The overnight group (if somebody wants to start one) could go west to east starting Friday and the mentally unstable day hikers would go east to west starting early Saturday. I'd give a key to the overnight leader in case somehow the 2...

Re: Trans- Supes (south to north day hike)

I was thinking maybe, Dutchman to Whiskey to Red Tanks, and then making our way past La Barge and Charlebois and maybe finding the master map before heading out to Canyon Lake. That would be around 18 miles. Any other suggestions for routes? I haven't done Black Top Mesa so we could also go stright ...

Re: Tule to Peralta

Why don't you all stop being sadistic and make it an overnighter? I mean come on guys, I don't want to sit in a car for 4 hours after a 35 mile dayhike. And thats what it will end up being with that shuttle and then driving back home. Leave house at 4AM; get back at 4 AM the next day. Maybe I'd be i...

Four Peaks Mother Lode (10/24)

Well back in AZ and anxious to do some more hiking in the superstitions, I've been looking at a South to north shuttle hike from Peralta to Canyon lake, not too bad, just about 16-17 miles I think depending on the exact trails we opt to take. I'm going to put this on the calendar for sometime in Oct...

Re: Rattlesnake ID question

On a related note, there's a supposed snake maven elsewhere who claims that Western Diamondbacks are confined to extreme southern AZ, and that most identified as such here are really Mojaves. I haven't found solid enough information to confirm or refute that. Funny that anyone (especially someone w...

Re: Rattlesnake ID question

Thats a Western Diamondback for sure! And you can tell from the face markings that it is so. Notice the two light colored eye stripes on the diamondback. The second eyestripe (behind the eye) intersects the snake's mouth. Mojave's also have two light eye stripes, but on Mojave's the stripe does not ...

Hey, politics is stupid, thats all im saying. I'd much rather go hiking then discuss this. Its so dumb, especially when its the nuts who dominate both sides of the debate. Plus I'm not really affected by this law since I don't look mexican at all... Although I am pretty tan, so maybe i should carry ...
