drinking water at campground

Im going to Havasupai for the first time next week for 5 days and was wondering if the water at fern spring needs to be treated or if it can be drunk right out of the pipe. I have heard mixed replies on this, so any feedback would be great. Im just really trying to shed the 13oz filter if I can, and...

Re: Ok This may get tempers going!!

I would be up for that. Perhaps we could put something in the hiking events section for sometime this summer. Kinda like a meet and greet for the HAZ ers while giving back to the community, and get to do some swimming too! It is smack in the center of the state, so no one can say its too far away! M...

Re: Ok This may get tempers going!!

Well i went down there yesterday, and it wasnt as bad as i was expecting. Not many people either, maybe 10 cars at the trailhead. Noboby at the dam all day. We did pack some trash out, and cut down the neon ribbon along the trail. If someone needs to mark there way down there, they really need to re...

Re: Ok This may get tempers going!!

That sucks to hear, as this place has been going downhill for a few years now. I was there 3 months ago, and as it wasnt in bad shape then, i can only imagine how it is now with the warmewr temps. Im taking some people there tomorrow, sad for them to have to see it in that state. I'm with you on clo...

Re: The Cairn Poll

I dont mind cairns. they saved my life in Mineral Bottom once. But on well used trails its kinda annoying. But im sure they have helped out people who only hike once every 5 years, and would likely get more confused then , say, we would.

Re: desert hiking!

It is east of San Carlos lake, where the Gila River cuts into a 1000ft canyon. Very hard to get to logistically. Of all the research i have done on this place over the years (library, internet, even flying over it in a plane) i've never once come across any photographs of it. I have spent countless ...
