Re: Superstition Ridgeline December 20

Man I have really been wanting to try the ridgeline hike for a while. Now that I have my backpacking gear I need to schedule this for soon no doubt.

Re: Where to pitch my next guidebook?

I don't know if there is really enough stuff to do a whole guide with but there's always the Four Peaks Wilderness area. Perhaps you could do a mazatzals guide with a bonus section for four peaks.

Doing my first backpack

So after convincing my mom to get me an REI gift card for xmas (early xmas : D) I finally finished out my gear to do some backpacking out in the supes. I'm looking at something probably along Dutchman's trail or perhaps by Boulder Canyon (contemplating camping on top of the lower half of Battleship)...

Re: Where do I park to do an overnight up on flatiron?

Ya water isn't so much of a concern for me as I don't have a filter yet ^_^. I'm just going to bring my full 3 liter camelback and an extra gallon for cooking and the hike back (probably won't use all that water though especially with the temperatures being so mild....I'm good at conserving). I know...

Re: Hiking Troubles

When I was bagging Brown's peak a few weeks ago I had a close call about halfway up the chute going to the summit. I went to get up a 3 foot wall section in there and went to boost myself up and felt myself falling backwards. I don't know how but I had just barely enough of a handhold to not topple ...

Re: Where do I park to do an overnight up on flatiron?

Your first backpack ever and you want to lug all your gear to the top of the flatiron? You sure that's what you want to do? Mehhh first time I went up there I for some reason took 2 gallons and that was about the same weight as what I have planned out for it. Still I have been thinking about maybe ...

Re: Where do I park to do an overnight up on flatiron?

Crosscut trailhead and hike from there would probably be best I would think. Then you dont have to pay the exorbitant Lost Dutchman fee. Ya I meant Crosscut not Second water. Isn't there a sign there that says no overnight parking? I wana make sure I don't have to pay impound fees or anything (sorr...

Where do I park to do an overnight up on flatiron?

I finally got all my backpacking gear (hurray for early Christmas presents) to go spend a night in the supes and I wanted to go up on flatiron. Where would probably be the best place to park overnight for that? I'm not sure if they will let me use the camping spots at the tonto ntl forest trailheads...
