Re: 2017 Sawmill Fire closes AZT and some Santa Rita Trails

This is what I read and seems to make much more sense. "Under his plea agreement, Dickey will pay $100,000 in restitution when he is sentenced Oct. 9 and another $120,000 in monthly installments of $500 for the next 20 years. https://tucson.com/news/local/border-agent-to-pay-k-for-tucson-area-wildfi...

Re: Hiking vehicles

@Hansenaz If I had to go to owning only one vehicle, it would be a Subaru. With some armor and all terrain tires for it, their capabilities can be quite impressive.

Re: Hiking vehicles

@CannondaleKid
Great list of things to consider. Another thing to consider is two vehicles, my daily driver is a VW Jetta Hybrid (trying to be a better Earthling) hiking, camping, Home Depot vehicle; 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser with factory front and rear lockers.

I see you failed to consult the omnipotent FaceBook. As I understand it, it's the go to resource for forest closures, fire restrictions, acne cures.

@SonoranSon
You can always access from the Reservation near point of Pines if you're really jonesing for some backpacking and fishing. I don't believe The San Carlos Apache (Stage 2 fire restrictions) or the White Mountain Apache( Stage 2 Restrictions) have closed their forests.

@xthine
This is where youtube is your friend. I have replaced my standalone Garmin's screen cover successfully via youtube. I would recommend using clear nail polish on the screen cover where it fits into the housing to give it that water seal.

Re: Arizona Jaguar Dead

As I understand it, the jaguar was killed in Mexico. The species is "protected" there, however there are vastly different cultural, economic and ethical issues with regards to the killing of predators in Mexico. I am greatly saddened by this. Killing of a predator is unnatural, and disruptive of the...

Smart Outdoor Watch-What do you wear?

While attending the GoPro Mountain Games last weekend, I bought the Casio Pro Tek WSD-F20X Smart Watch. It turned out to be a huge disappointment. It was so slow to open menus , it was unusable. In addition the Maps wouldn't load if my VPN/ Firewall was running on my phone. I returned the the follow...
