Re: Rosemont Mine EIS

There was at least one other attempt to mine the same area as the proposed Rosemont Mine back in the '90s. And as much as I'd like to believe that effort was quashed over public concerns, the reality for that venture was the same faced by the current Rosemont Mine, the price of copper tanked.

Re: Route Scout Gaps in GPS Data - Android

For what it's worth, the half hour boot up (Android upgrade?) of my phone on Saturday has me on Android 5.1, not the Marshmallow version of Android (version 6.0).

Re: Route Scout Gaps in GPS Data - Android

Did Google push out a major upgrade to Android a couple of days ago? When I turned my phone on Saturday morning I waited 20 or 30 minutes for the phone to boot up (the message said something like "activating 87 apps"?). If other HAZers have mysteriously started having problems with RS recently, then...

Re: Route Scout Gaps in GPS Data - Android

@Widowmaker Until my wireless provider, Republic Wireless, upgraded my Android operating system to version 5.1 a few months ago I could never get HAZTracks or RouteScout to record a GPS track in any Location mode other than "Device only". After the upgrade I was able to record in "High accuracy" mo...

Re: Route Scout Gaps in GPS Data - Android

@joe bartels Joe, I'm aware of those problems, so I made a conscious effort to close all apps (I only opened Chrome), except RS, brought RS to the foreground, and then locked the screen so no other apps would inadvertently open and compromise RS tracking. NO CIGAR! Check my latest track, "RS Fails ...

Re: Route Scout Gaps in GPS Data - Android

@Widowmaker
Do you ever stop for a few minutes? The last three or four tracks I ATTEMPTED to create quit when I stopped for a few minutes (hours?). Every one of the problematic tracks stop when I first stopped?

Re: Route Scout Gaps in GPS Data - Android

I believe I'm experiencing the same problem as cdeperro. Every time I stop for even a couple of minutes, e.g. I stopped to take something out of my boot yesterday, and RS FAILED to restart. Is there a RS setting that shuts down after a two or three minute pause? If so, How do I change that setting? ...

Re: Revisiting The Past!

Blah, blah, blah, blah!!! Y'all want to credit you parents, or the Cub Scouts, or the two tours of duty in Nam, or some other nonsense. But we, your HAZ peeps, all know your supposed passion is about trying to fool the "babes" into thinking you're a "sensitive" kind of guy because you'd chose to spe...

Re: Question about Google Earth elevation profiles

Which hike are you talking about, the hike in the canyons, or the hike along the rims of the two canyons? My, SAMBA (aka LaFong) canyons hike, http://hikearizona.com/map.php?GPS=9987, was done in the canyons proper and had 972 aeg, whereas the "official route", http://hikearizona.com/map.php?GPS=311...

Re: Route Scout hangs on "loading"

@joe bartels Yo Joe, Do you have a sense of how big this "loading" problem is with HAZers using the latest version of Android? I ask, because my provider, Republic Wireless, has just informed (warned?) me they will finally be upgrading my first generation Motorola Moto X to Android Lollipop 5.1 som...

Re: The 2016!! Cyclical totals discussion thread.

@chumley Ego-stroking and attention-whoring are two related -- but very different -- arts. Yo Chums, Was that a gratuitous comment, or was it directed at anyone in particular? If the latter, and I'm the one, then I feel like Navin Johnson when the new phone books arrived, "The new phone book’s here...

Re: The 2016!! Cyclical totals discussion thread.

@Jim_H "Proud" is not an adjective that comes immediately to mind when I talk about "bagging" bars. Dive (aka "neighborhood") bars are my "thang". Granted, my life is a little short on stimulus, but talking about, comparing notes on, sharing experiences of the bars I've "bagged" usually filters int...

Re: The 2016!! Cyclical totals discussion thread.

Would it be a heretical of me to think about hiking simply for "FUN". Me thinks if you bag the Colorado 13ers, then I might be willing consider that a worthwhile accomplishment. But the rest is just ego stroking.

Re: Joe did you do 'something' to Route Scout

@cavaroc Thanks for the screen shot. Now I know what yooz guys are talking about. You're not getting the clickable "files" folder or the "begin activity" arrow that populate on the top of the screen after you get the "settings". "import", and "info" logos.
