Re: Is it cheating?

If disgusting experiences are your "thang", then I highly recommend hiking the Bright Angel Trail. I hiked it twice back in '99, my first and last time. As I remember there is a six inch wide, mule piss infused rut that thousands of newbie hikers are trying to claim as their own. If that's your idea...

Re: More Mountain Biking Adventure Ideas?

@CannondaleKid Yo CD Kid, I just broached the notion of biking Cherry Creek Road with my mountain bikin' buddy, Tom, and he's "all in" on the idea. As for the segment from Young Highway to Punkin Center, I took your advice and sent a reply to ASUAviator via a comment on his Sierra Ancha 4x4 Loop ph...

More Mountain Biking Adventure Ideas?

ASUAviator posted this photo set today, http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=36963. This post gave me an idea for a couple of possible mountain biking adventures. I've been on the southern section of Cherry Creek Road as far as Devil's Chasm, so I have a pretty good idea CCR would make for a SPECT...

Re: My Wrightson via Temporal Gulch and Walker Basin Loop!

@bknorby
Are you aware of the park-and-ride parking area on 83 at the I-10 exit STOP sign. We bikers have been using that parking spot since I arrived in Tucson in '93. It's a slightly more convenient spot to park than where you've proposed.

Re: A Black Hole of Information

@CannondaleKid
Yo CD Kid,

Here's the Readers Digest version of the Magma Mine Road inquiry I tried to send you. Is MMR scenic, bike-able, fun, and short enough to do as a shuttle ride? TIA.

Did my Magma Mine Road reply to CanondaleKid get posted on this distinguished forum, or is it floating around in the nether world?

Re: A Black Hole of Information

@Mick Yo Mick, What's "Mon/Tues"? Lest you've forgotten, "I'M RETIRED". Christmas is just like Monday to me. If/when my buddy Tom and I do a ride in this area you can rest assured we will do it on "Mon/Tues" to accommodate you. I'll keep you posted. Bare in mind this will be purely exploratory, and...

Re: A Black Hole of Information

@CannondaleKid Yo CD Kid, They both work. I did a quick review of both videos, and the "Mineral Creek to Rawhide Canyon 4-wheeling" looks like a "must do" ride to me. Beautiful vistas, spectacular rock formations, bikeable surface! What's not to like. What I saw in the few minutes of viewing the "R...

Re: A Black Hole of Information

@CannondaleKid Yo CD Kid, I appreciate all the FEEDBACK you've given me so far. That said, do your 3-day camping trip sans any thoughts of moi . Even if I do this adventure, it won't happen for a month or two. I need to get a little fitter, and, more problematically, find another rider with a simil...

Re: A Black Hole of Information

@CannondaleKid Yo CD Kid, Is there a secret to viewing the video links you sent me? I've tried to view them on different computers, different operating systems, and different web browsers and all I got was a blank screen. I even forwarded your PM to my Apple buddy, Tom, and he couldn't get the vide...

@CannondaleKid Yo CD Kid, I got your PM, and I've got one comment. That's what I call FEEDBACK. Looks like I'll have a few hours of research time reviewing all the photo sets posted on the links you sent me. Sorry, I lied. I meant to say "two comments". The second being, thank you lots for the FEED...

Re: A Black Hole of Information

@CannondaleKid Yo CD Kid, I was hoping (expecting?) to hear from you. I've biked the Box Canyon/Martinez Canyon/Kilns of Cochran/Gila River/Train Bed Loop a half dozen or so times. I've also biked a few different loops from south of Superior to the Kilns and back. Granted, I was younger and fitter ...

A Black Hole of Information

I did some hiking in the Devil's Canyon area a few years ago, and I left thinking the maze of roads in the area might be well worth a a return trip to explore on mountain bikes. My Google Earth exploration of the area shows the Magma Mine Road runs down the west side of Devil's Canyon running from U...

Gooseberry Mesa, a world-class mountain biking area, offers dispersed camping, and is probably less than fifteen or so miles from Springdale.

I forgot to mention a key issue in my Moto X problem. My Moto X uses a proprietary version of Android which is the required operating system of Republic Wireless, my cell phone service provider.

Re: Route Scout

@tibber You change location modes at settings>Location>Mode>Device only. Speaking of "Not sure what you mean", what is this Moto X Pure Edition of which you speak? BTW, do you own either a 1st or 2nd generation Moto X? If so, can you run HAZ Tracks or Route Scout in "High accuracy" mode as Joe B ad...

As with HAZ Tracks the "Device only" is the only Location Mode setting that Route Scout works in on a 1st generation Motorola Moto X.

@azbackpackr
I've seen your vehicle. If there were any car thieves desperate enough to consider stealing your car, they would quickly come to their senses, and leave you a fifty dollar bill instead, figurin' you need it more than them.
