Re: Zion Trip?

I'd been down to carpool but I'll be on the north rim in early sept for whatever holiday that is (sept 4-6 I think on N.Rim)

Any week or weekend after that I'd be down

Re: Dispersed Camping suggestions near Tusayan

I'm pretty sure I can handle a little dirt in my shower. The offer stands. I'd enjoy a visit and some trail chat anyway. People out here don't hike so I rarely get to chat trails n hikes n routes. Also last I checked Mather's showers are $2 in quarters for 3 minutes. Your choice. I'm not demanding a...

Sorry you paid for Mather! You could've crashed at my place in Tusayan if you'd wanted.
Same goes for all you HAZzers if you give me enough heads up. Happy hiking!!

Re: Grand Canyon Wilderness

There's a book all about the river politics and wilderness bills. Hijacking a River is the title I think. Politics surrounding the GRCA land is chaos what with national park, native tribal lands and the river itself which should be wilderness but isn't... If people weren't so greedy we'd be able to ...

Re: NPS Designates Historic Landmark Status to Air Crash Sit

@Jim Lyding and yet people have been doing it for years. True though, In my opinion most anyone who actually puts time, effort, planning and can physically complete the hike...I Dont think they would desecrate the grounds. But government does what it wants I suppose...when will they learn that if t...

Re: NPS Designates Historic Landmark Status to Air Crash Sit

I wish we'd had our binocs on our 2012 Cape Solitude trip, i remember 9L or someone telling the story of the crash on the drive up north. Pretty awesome to have it designated as Historic Landmark so many years later... But why would we not be allowed to visit exactly? I have read many triplogs about...

the start of the local's only "Flagpole Route", it's so sad how these things happen in such safe areas. :(

Re: Rappelling waterfalls

Rappeling + water + waterfalls...that actually sounds like a really dangerous and exciting adventure! But really I can't imagine it being any riskier than regular climbing or rappeling, you're anchored and harnessed and protected by your helmet and hopefully you know what you're doing and started sm...

Re: Travel delays on Four Peaks/El Oso Road

Thought I'd poke back in here since I'm back and all.
We left the 87 onto the 403 until reaching the 401 which is only a few miles but saw no evidence whatsoever on that end of construction, no tags or signs or anything so it must all be up-road further.
sorry couldn't report much more this time.

as far as reavis ranch, i've done that multiple times and im looking for a change of scenery. why not try Haunted Canyon, that was nice. Short hike in, shorter hike out, steeper hike out, or go back the way you came, water is not an issue and the camping sites were superb. http://hikearizona.com/de...

Re: John Scott ( johnr1 ) hit by boulder in Upper Devil's Ca

I read this earlier today before his name was released. It always makes me think I hope it wasn't a HAZzer... and too often it has been. I only met John once but he was a kind person and fun to hike with. Deepest condolences to family and friends and the brave woman who was with him in the end. At t...
