Re: Hiking vehicles

@MtnBart01 @RedRoxx44 It's Interesting that you guys don't have Issues with the Memory Foam. At least when it's Cold... I bought a Twin Sized Memory Foam Mattress and although it was fine in the Summer, when I went on my Fall Trips with Cold Nights, it like...Froze.... Hard as a Frickin' Rock. I'd ...

Re: Digital Cameras

Well, after 5 years, my Camera is now mostly Retired. My Trip down to SE Arizona last Week and a Botanical Gardens Day Trip right after pretty much convinced me that it's just no longer Reliable enough. I was closing in on 60,000 Shutter Clicks with it and I don't think Nikon really built those Came...

Re: Hiking vehicles

@trekkin_gecko Wait, don't you have a Truck? Just put a Shell on it... You can also buy Boxes for it if you don't/can't build them yourself... I've done that with a couple of different Pickups I've owned... I really enjoy sleeping in my Vehicle as well. I'm a tad too long for it, but as long as it'...

@chumley
Thank You for that Chumley...I've read the Triplogs and figured out there was an "easier" way up there than what the Description states. We will be following the Better Route for sure! Nice to know there's at least a Use type Trail for some of it!

7th Annual New Year's Day Hike

Year 7, can you believe it??? :y: I'm Posting this a bit earlier than Usual, but this has been on my List for a bit now and seemed like a No-Brainer for a New Year's Day Hike! Plus, I figured that with the Weather finally getting nice, some would be Eyeing this Peak! What better day to do it??? Join...

@desertadapted
You won't have any problem with finding a Campsite at either LaBarge or Charlebois Springs actually, there's a few to be had at either location. There is also a couple between the two Springs.....

Re: Thru-hike NOBO planning

March 15th would probably be a great Date. Lingering Snow but not terrible and it will get you through the Lower Elevations before it starts getting too warm. Generally speaking, Water will usually be more Available in the Lower Elevations as well. With that being said, if you can wait and see how t...

Re: Favorite Water Treatment?

I never had any problems with either the Full Size Sawyer Squeeze or the Mini, but I have found that the Mini needs Backflushing more often, probably because the Filter is almost half the size... If you've got Debris in the Water, yes, I would most likely run it through something first although if t...

Re: Proposed NPS entrance fee increase during peak seasons

The only thing that I wonder about with this is the On/Off Season. If they only do the Fee Increase for Peak Times of Year, are more and more People going to start flooding the Parks during the Off-Peak Times? It used to be if you went to one of these Parks after Labor Day, it was pretty Uncrowded. ...

I too, find this Highly Suspect. If there wasn't some Underlying Cause, then the Timeline or the Facts of this Story might be wrong. I'm surprised that he just didn't Hike back to the TH, he could have cut the ER Response Time in at least Half. But it will be interesting to see what the Final Report...

Guess I'm not in that Group. Sounds like I'm not missing much except for some Entertainment now and then. The Squirrel tried to add me to a Group, but I declined. Just not interested in those Groups I guess, too much Showboating.

@nonot Actually, I didn't word that very well... Pikas are actually having a very hard time with Global Warming. I think if People actually read the Article, they will realize "we are not doing this for the People".... I agree with what they are doing and I don't think it's Dumbing or Wussing the Wilderness at all... Some Wilderness Areas are being completely overrun with People and they are Loving it to Death...

@neilends You can find the Directions for Parking at the West "TH" here... Just be considerate of the Residents and only park on the South Side of the Road.... https://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=16451 This is not an "Official TH", but a Gap in the Fence and a Trail will take you to the San Jua...

I've never had a Card Failure either... But I've been told to stick with Sandisk as it seems to be the most Reliable...I have a couple of Cards that are at least 4 Years old and still doing just fine... I won't use anything bigger than a 32GB though and even that big makes me nervous... I've only fi...
