Re: FS77 Or Peralta Road

@syoung Kind of surprised to hear this. Peralta Rd. is typically pretty well maintained. That said, I did get a flat out there on my Superstition Ridgeline hike last year: http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=486009 ... Yea, I was shocked too. Never had an issue heading out there the times I have b...

Peralta Road - 7/14/16

The road out there is probably not passable by car. Each of the creek crossings have a very thick layer of sand. My little Mazda 3 made it about a half mile from the trailhead and almost got stuck going through one. I decided to turn around and head to Picketpost.

I was just out there today (a little past the first saddle) and didn't see any.

@JasonCleghorn
The first weekend of June would work for me tentatively; and I've always wanted to make it out to CO or UT to check things out.

Re: GC weather at the River first week of June/Bright Angel

I'm certainly not a noob, but by the first week of June, what will be the temps be at the River as I start my ascent back up Bright Angel? I'm certainly desert adapted, and a water buffalo that drinks a ton of water, etc, but I am A. looking for folks that want to go, B. but also to hear from folks...

I really like my Marmot Precip pants and jacket. I paid about 100 for the jacket from REI and around 40 or so for the pants from one of the online stores on clearance.

Re: Superstition Ridgeline, AZ :: Question by runboy2

Ive seen people take two different ways in that area. One right up the short climb, and the other around to the left of the face/wall where your arrow is. What you may not have seen is people Doubling Back after trying to go to the Left...There appears to be a "Use Trail" that is fairly Deceiving t...

Re: 2016 Hazolutions

2015 - Without a doubt the most memorable hike of the year was the jaunt at the Grand Canyon that preceded me popping the question to my SO. Approaching 300 times up to Flatiron. Adjusting my yearly goals as I go based on my physical condition. I had originally started off shooting for 1000 miles. ...

Four Peaks - Motherlode

How crazy would I be to think about attempting this on Sunday? Are the conditions too unfriendly this time of year to pull that off? If not, anyone interested in going? 8-[

Flatiron night trip!

Kind of short notice but is anyone up for a romp up to Flatiron this evening? I will be heading out sometime after sunset I'd imagine. If you want to join, let me know!

Re: Your workout hike?

Yep, Flatiron is my go to when I can't make it out anywhere else (unfortunately, that seems to be the majority of the time now). I think I am up to 240 times now but I'd have to double check.

Re: Speed hiking through nature

If I want to zoom up Superstition then I will. If I want to go for a stroll through the Grand Canyon and soak it all in, I will. I honestly don't see how either one impacts anyone else as long as I am not blazing a new trail and destroying things. :M2C:

Re: That one hike.

May 26th 2012 - My first trip up Flatiron. Since moving to the Valley (from Upstate NY) I had hiked a smattering of times in the San Tan's and that was it; perhaps a grand total of 12 miles hiking to my name. I was convinced, however, that I had to make it up that mountain. It was a long, long day; ...
