Re: Rainy Colorado hike suggestions

@juliachaos Also around B.V. and Leadville area you have access to Collegiate Peaks west and some cool historical areas to stop by like Winfield, as well as tons of "lower elevation" day hikes in area...

Re: Rainy Colorado hike suggestions

@juliachaos
We did this one and it meets most of your criteria, in fact, we chose it because we thought the wheather would not be favorable for a 14er that day...just outside of Salida and on way to B.V. as the locals say ;)

Re: Backpacking Up North

@sajor75
From a quick search of the last time you posted this question I found the following...
There are a lot insects in May
its is a little toasty in June
and
July is the third most popular month for the Highline. It's also the hottest with temps on average in the mid 80's

Re: hiking ban during hot temperatures

Everyone rejoiced when they banned dogs from Camelback, now they are talking about banning humans from Phoenix's outdoor treadmills for what will amount to a significant portion of the summer, on behalf of dogs everywhere :lol: :DANCE: Don't worry urban warriors, I am pretty sure this one falls out ...

Re: Show Low - Fire and highway closure

Just drove through Show Low, seems to be business as usual, no extra traffic, no crazy lines at pumps. I spoke with a guy who had been evacuated and he says he is not worried...Wind is very bad, God help those fire fighters... http://hikearizona.com/dex2/igallery/image_page.php?id=5200 http://hikear...

Re: Seeing Chumley's and FOTG's pics from Alpine area

@JasonCleghorn I obvisously find a tremendous amount of beauty in Arizona, from the bottom of the Canyon to its high alpine environments. However, I discovered last summer that nothing in AZ holds a candle to the Sierra Nevada, in particular, the JMT...I hope I have a similar impression after the C...

Yup, I have a few experiences with getting those, they seem to be pretty liberal about where and what you can do once you pay them...White Mountain permit did however come with a guide showing forbidden areas, so maybe double check that...

Re: If you knew that someone will be taking 20-30 people

@JasonCleghorn Not on said website, but I heard it was just a trip to the Wave Cave anyways, looks like about .7 to .8 miles within wilderness boundary, I think most legitimate hikers could care less about the size of crowds at the Wave Cave, its a touristy area and is expected...better them there,...
